About Us
Underground Backyard BBQ began in the front yard of our family home in Bakersfield, California. What started with our children’s lemonade stand and free samples of Tony’s slow-smoked brisket quickly grew into a thriving family business, complete with neighborhood pop-ups, a food truck and features in The Bakersfield Californian and local television news.
Our journey later took us to Illinois, where we opened and operated two restaurants in Williamsfield and Elmwood. With our children working alongside us, UBQ became known for authentic Texas-style craft barbecue, soulful sides and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of a family gathering.
Today, we are proud to call Pine Bluff, Arkansas, home. From our front yard in California to restaurants across three states, our mission has remained the same: prepare quality food low and slow, treat every customer like family and serve every meal with love. At UBQ, you’re not simply visiting a restaurant—you’re becoming part of our family’s story.
